The Gustavus Adolphus men’s hockey team fell to 0-2-1 overall following a 5-3 loss to #6 UW-Superior Friday night. Eric Bigham, Sami Idris, and John Arundel each scored a goal for the Gusties, who finish off the weekend homestand with a non-conference game Saturday evening against St. Scholastica.

Gustavus Adolphus becomes the final MIAC women’s hockey team to open its season Saturday evening when it drops the puck in a nonconference game at sixth-ranked UW-Stevens Point. The Gusties, who enter the season ranked third in the USCHO.com Division III Preseason Women’s Poll, will then host fifth-ranked UW-Superior on Tuesday, Nov. 14.

Gustavus Adolphus junior linebacker Jared Sieling has been named Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Football Defensive Player of the Week for the week ending Nov. 5, 2006. Sieling recorded seven tackles (five solo), one tackle for loss, one interception and one sack in Gustavus’ 7-0 win over Concordia-Moorhead last Saturday.
