The Gustavus women’s basketball team defeated host Colorado College 73-61 on Saturday afternoon to claim the Colorado College Thanksgiving Tournament Championship. Jess Vadnais, who scored 26 against Colorado College on Saturday, and 22 in the first game against Marian on Friday, was named the Tournament’s Most Valuable Player.

The Gustavus men’s hockey team lost to the Milwaukee School of Engineering 9-6 in the first round of the MSOE Holiday Tournament in Milwaukee. The Gusties tied the score at 5-5 early in the third period, but MSOE scored three power play goals late in the game and claimed the 9-6 victory.

The Gusties were led by Jess Vadnais and Bri Monahan with 22 and 19 points, respectively.

The Gustavus women’s basketball team opened its 2006-07 season with a 60-45 win over Wartburg at Gus Young Court in St. Peter, Minn. The Gusties trailed 23-20 at the half, but then rallied to outscore the Knights 40-22 in the second half and claim the 15-point victory. Jess Vadnais led Gustavus with 21 points.
