For the seventh time in program history, the Gustavus men’s soccer team is the MIAC playoff champion. The Gusties broke a 1-1 halftime tie with two second half goals to defeat St. Thomas 3-1 on Bethany Lutheran College’s new artificial turf pitch, securing an automatic qualifier to the NCAA tournament.

The Gustavus women’s hockey team welcomes Concordia-Wisconsin and No. 7 UW-Eau Claire to Don Roberts Ice Rink for its home opening weekend. The 1-0 Gusties face Concordia at 7 p.m. Saturday and then take on Eau Claire at 2 p.m. Saturday.

The Gustavus men’s and women’s swimming & diving teams hosted their season opener Saturday at Vic Gustafson Pool against Minnesota State-Mankato and UW-Stevens Point and came away with a number of successful results. The men defeated Stevens Point, while the women beat Steven Point and lost to MSU.

The Gustavus football team extended their win streak to four as they took down Carleton 55-28 on Saturday at Hollingsworth Field. With the win the Gusties move to 6-2 overall and 4-2 in the MIAC while the Knights fall to 4-5 overall and 2-5 in the conference.

Men’s Cross Country Takes Fourth at MIAC Championships

The Gustavus men’s cross country team earned fourth place Saturday at the MIAC Championships. Garet Grant (So., Winona) and Andrew Stumbo (Jr., Boone, Iowa) headlined the Gusties with All-Conference performances. Grant finished 12th in 25:44.7 and Stumbo took 14th in 25:53.7.

Tierney Winter (Sr., Waterville) became the second fastest runner in the 6k-era of Gustavus women’s cross country history, taking second place and leading the Gusties to a fourth place team finish at the MIAC Championships on Saturday.
