Men’s Basketball Continues To Struggle, Falls To Augsburg 75-70

Augsburg’s Jon Cassens scored 17 second half points, leading the Auggies to a 75-70 victory over the Gustavus men’s basketball team on Monday night in St. Peter, Minn. Augsburg closed the gap on a 12-point second half Gustavus lead to hand the Gusties their second consecutive MIAC loss. Augsburg’s David Olson scored a game-high 23 points, as Jesse Van Sickle led the Gusties with 18 points.

Gundersen And Hansvick Shine As Women’s Swimming & Diving Defeats St. Thomas 168-126

The Gustavus women’s swimming and diving team compiled 10 event wins and eight second place finishes to defeat St. Thomas 168-126 in a dual meet on Friday night in St. Paul, Minn. Carrie Gundersen (4) and Maggie Hansvick (3) accounted for seven of Gustavus’s ten first place finishes.

Men’s Swimming & Diving Drops MIAC Dual To St. Thomas 155-146

The Gustavus men’s swimming and diving teams tallied eight first place finishes, yet could not hold off St. Thomas in a 155-146 dual meet loss on Friday night in St. Paul, Minn. Whitaker Davis had a big night for the Gusties, as he won both the 200 butterfly (2:01.35) and 500 freestyle (4:45.70), and took second in the 100 freestyle (49.46).

Women’s Nordic Skiing Places Sixth At NCAA Qualifier In Cable, Wisc.

The Gustavus women’s nordic ski team tallied 95 points to take sixth place among competing Central Collegiate Ski Association (CCSA) schools at the Central Super Tour Ski Meet held at the Telemark Resort in Cable, Wisc. Erica Hett was the top Gustavus skier over the weekend. Hett finished 14th (18.55.58) in Saturday’s 5km classic race and 25th (34:35.3) in the 10km freestyle on Sunday. Northern Michigan took first place over the weekend with 166 points.

Men’s Nordic Skiing Takes Fifth At NCAA Qualifier In Cable, Wisc.

The Gustavus men’s nordic ski team compiled 103 points over the weekend to take fifth place among competing Central Collegiate Ski Association (CCSA) schools at the Central Super Tour Ski Meet held at the Telemark Resort in Cable, Wisc. Jens Brabbit was the top Gustavus skier with a 13th place finish (31:50.02) in Saturday’s 10km classic, and a fourth place finish (40:20.5) in Sunday’s 15km freestyle.

Women’s Track & Field Competes At MSU-Mankato Open

The Gustavus women's track and field team competed in the MSU-Mankato Open on Friday and Saturday in the Meyers Field Field House in Mankato, Minn. Kaelene Lundstrum was the top Gustavus performer in the meet. Lundstrum won the heptathlon with 3468 points, setting a new Gustavus record.

The Gustavus men's track and field team competed in the two-day MSU-Mankato Open on Friday and Saturday in Meyer's Field House on the campus of MSU-Mankato. Gustavus tallied three to five finishes as no teams scores were recorded at the meet.

Gymnastics Falls To UW-Stout 173.725-169.750

The Gustavus gymnastics team dropped it's opening road meet to WIAC opponent UW-Stout 173.725-169.750 on Friday night in Menomonie, Wisc. UW-Stout’s Meghan Hargens and Naomi DeLara were the top performers in the meet as they each won two events. Kelly Mathewson was the top Gustavus performer, taking second in the all-around (34.625).

Men’s Basketball Stumbles On The Road With 78-75 Loss To Saint Mary’s

The Gustavus men's basketball team suffered a 78-75 setback to Saint Mary's on the road in Winona, Minn. on Wednesday night. Saint Mary’s Will Wright scored a game-high 18 points on 5-8 shooting, while teammate Michael Burfeind scored 17, shooting 8-10 from the field. Gustavus’s Ryan McPartland led team with 14 points (6-15) and eight rebounds.

David Martinson Named MIAC Men’s Hockey Player Of The Week

Gustavus senior forward David Martinson (St. Louis Park, Minn./St. Louis Park) was named MIAC Men’s Hockey Player of the Week for his efforts against Saint John’s this past weekend. Martinson registered a total of four goals and one assist, as the Gusties gained three points from the Johnnies with a 3-3 tie Friday night and a 6-4 win Sunday morning.
