Brabbit Receives All-CCSA First Team Honors

Gustavus Adolphus Junior Jens Brabbit has been named All-Central Collegiate Ski Association (CCSA) First Team. Brabbit is the first Gustavus skier to ever be bestowed All-CCSA First team honors, as he has ranked in the top 5 over the course of the first four qualifying weekends. He is the only skier from a Division III school to be honored as first or second team All-Conference.

Women’s Swimming And Diving Ready To Compete AT MIAC Championships

The Gustavus women's swimmig and diving team is set to compete at the 2009-10 MIAC Championships held on Feb. 18-20, in the Aquatic Center on the campus of the University of Minnesota. The Gusties finished second last season and will look to challenge Carleton for the conference crown. Preliminaries will begin on Thursday at 10:30 a.m.

Janey Helland Named MIAC Women’s Indoor Field Athlete Of The Week

Gustavus Adolphus Senior, and Mapleton, Minn. native, Janey Helland has been named MIAC Indoor Track & Field Field Athlete of the Week. Helland took first place in the Carleton Pentathlon on Friday night in Northfield, Minn. with an NCAA provisional qualifying total of 3011 points. Helland won the high jump (5' 2.25"), long jump (17' 2.75"), and 800 meter run (2:30.36) at the competition, provisionally qualifying herself for the NCAA meet in the Pentathlon and the long jump.

Max Hanson Named MIAC Men’s Track Athlete Of The Week

Gustavus senior Max Hanson (Montrose, Minn./Buffalo) has been named MIAC Men's Indoor Track & Field Track Athlete of the Week for his efforts at the Meet of the Hearts hosted by Carleton on Saturday in the Recreation Center in Northfield, Minn. Hanson took first place in the 800 meter run with a time of 1:54.68, beating out the second place finisher by 2.64 seconds. Hanson's time is the top in the conference and provisionally qualifies him for the NCAA Championships.

Women’s Nordic Skiing Takes Seventh At CCSA Ski Championships

The Gustavus women’s nordic ski team finished in seventh place (70 points) at the CCSA Ski Championships on Saturday and Sunday at the Al Quall Recreation Area in Ishpeming, Mich. Erica Hett was the top Gustavus skier, as she finished 10th (15:27.4) in the 5km classic on Saturday, and 22nd (42:25.3) in the 15km freestyle on Sunday.

Brabbit Leads Men’s Nordic Ski Team At CCSA Ski Championships

The Gustavus men’s nordic ski team compiled 100 points over the weekend to finish in sixth place at the CCSA Ski Championships held at the Al Quaal Recreation Area in Ishpeming, Mich. on Saturday and Sunday. Jens Brabbit was the top Gustavus skier with a pair of top ten finishes. Brabbit took fourth in the 20km freestyle with a time of 51:01.7, and ninth in the 10km classic with a time of 27:47.9.

Men And Women Divers Compete At MSU Diving Invitational

The Gustavus men's and women's diving teams competed in the MSU-Mankato Diving Invitational on Saturday in Mankato, Minn. The top Gustavus divers were Bill Klein and Brittani Matzke. Klein took first place in both the one (351.30) and three meter dives (339.75), as Matzke finished second in the one meter (370.85) and third in the three meter (361.30).

Women’s Indoor Track & Field Takes First Place At Meet Of The Hearts

The Gustavus women's indoor track and field team compiled 176 points to finish in first place at the Meet of the Hearts hosted by Carleton College in Northfield, Minn. Individual event wins came from Allyson Voss in the pole vault (10' 11.75"), Janey Helland in the long jump (17' 3.50"), Becca Bryson in the triple jump (35' 0.25"), Sam Broderius in the shot put (41' 3"), and Diana Scott in the weight throw (49' 3.75"). Janey Hellend also claimed first place in the pentathlon on Friday night in Northfield, with a total of 3011 points

Men’s Indoor Track & Field Finishes Fourth At Meet Of The Hearts

The Gustavus men's indoor track and field team compiled 94.5 points to finish fourth place at the Meet of the Hearts hosted by Carleton College in Northfield, Minn. Max Hanson and John Kennedy registered individual event wins, as Hanson won the 800 meter run (1:54.68) and Kennedy took the mile run (4:27.10). Hamline won the meet with 203.5 points, as Bethel placed second with 101.5 points, and Augsburg took third with 99.5 points.
