Track & Field Set To Host Lee Krough Invitational

The Gustavus men's and women's outdoor track and field teams are set to host the Lee Krough Invitational on Saturday, April 10th, at the Gustavus Track and Field Complex in St. Peter, Minn. Field events are set to begin at 11:00 a.m. Participating schools will include Minnesota State Mankato, Martin Luther, Minnesota Duluth, Saint Mary's, Bethany Lutheran, and Winona State. Baseball Drops MIAC Opener To St. Olaf 7-3, and 3-2

The Gustavus baseball team opened its MIAC season with a pair of losses to St. Olaf, 7-3 and 3-2, on Wednesday afternoon in Northfield, Minn. Alan Woitas (2-2) and Cody Sukalski (2-2) suffered losses on the hill for the Gusties. Andrew Woitas was 2-3 in game one, as both Alan Woitas and Tory Hermans were 3-4 in game two.

Baseball Struggles To Score, Drops Doubleheader To UW-La Crosse

The Gustavus baseball team struggled to score runs in La Crosse, Wisc. on Monday afternoon, dropping a doubleheader to UW-La Crosse 5-1 and 3-1. Gustavus got five hits, yet left nine runners on base in game one. In game two, the Gusties got seven hits, but failed to bring in runners, leaving eight left stranded. Leading the Gusties on the day was Tory Herman (5-8) and Andrew Woitas (4-7).

Men’s Outdoor Track & Field Places Third At Central College Invite

The Gustavus men’s outdoor track and field team got the outdoor season started by compiling 97 points to finish in third place at the Central College Invitational on Saturday afternoon in Pella, Iowa. The Gusties tallied four event wins and 14 top five finishes at the meet. Central College won the meet with 222.50 points, as Minnesota Duluth placed second with 212.50 points.

Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Takes Fourth At Central College Invite

The Gustavus women’s outdoor track and field team got the outdoor season started with a fourth place finish at the Central College Invite on Saturday in Pella, Iowa. The Gusties registered 10 top five finishes for a total of 90.50 points. Individual event winners included Janey Helland in the long jump (18’ 01.75”) and Sam Broderius in the discus throw (137’ 11”).

Women’s Tennis Takes Third At Midwest Invitational

The Gustavus women's tennis team went 2-1 at the Midwest Invitational held April 2-3, in Madison, Wisc. The Gusties defeated Washington University (Mo.) 7-2 in the opening round of play on Friday. In the semifinal match later that day, Gustavus suffered a narrow 5-4 loss to the University of Chicago. Chicago went on to defeat Denison in the Championship match 5-2. Gustavus edged DePauw University 5-4 to take third place on Saturday.

Softball Opens MIAC Play With Sweep Over Bethel 10-4, And 3-1

The Gustavus softball team opened up its MIAC season with a doubleheader sweep over Bethel on Wednesday afternoon in Arden Hills, Minn. Gustavus defeated the Royals 10-4 in game one, and 3-1 in game two. Betsie Collins got the win in game one, as Erin Truebenbach pitched a complete game for the win in game two. Lisa Klass had a good day at the plate, as she went 5-for-7 with a double and four runs. Gustavus is now 7-5 overall and 2-0 in the MIAC, while Bethel drops to 8-10 overall and 0-2 in the MIAC.

Baseball Concludes Spring Break Trip With Split Against Oberlin

The Gustavus baseball team wrapped up its spring break trip to Arizona with a doubleheader split with Oberlin. The Gusties lost the first game 5-4 and then won the second game 7-3. The Gusties compiled a record of 6-2 in Arizona and are now 7-5 overall.

Women’s Tennis Tops Chapman 6-3 To Conclude California Tour

The Gustavus women's tennis won the final match of it's Spring trip to California 6-3 over Chapman University on Tuesday evening in Orange, Calif. The Gusties got four wins in the singles competition and two wins in doubles over the #12 ranked Chapman Panthers. Gustavus finished the California trip with a record of 2-1, as the Gusties now move to 17-9 on the season.

Baseball Defeats Elmhurst 12-8

The Gustavus baseball team got back on the winning track with a 12-8 win over Elmurst College in a nine-inning game in Phoenix on Tuesday afternoon. Adam Bren was the winning pitcher, going six innings, giving up two earned runs on five hits. Chad Eul had a big day at the plate, going 3-for4 with one RBI and a double.
