BLOOMINGTON, Minn. — The MIAC announced its 2022 women’s soccer awards on Thursday, and the Gustie women’s soccer team landed honors for three players. Annika Lewis (Sr., Hudson, Wis.), Sara Kugler (So., Lakeville), and Cambelle Waldspurger (Fy., Mahtomedi) all earned their first MIAC honors, each being selected as Conference Honorable-Mention for their 2022 season.
In her fourth season for the Gusties, Annika Lewis scored six points on two goals and two assists. Lewis, playing in all 17 of the Gusties’ games, added 27 shots and 15 on goal in her senior season.
Coming off of a strong freshman season, Sara Kugler’s sophomore year was just as impressive. Kugler played and started in 16 games, tallying two shots on goal for the Gusties.
Cambelle Waldspurger made an instant impact in her first year as a Gustie, leading the team in every offensive statistic. Waldspurger scored six goals and tallied four assists for 16 points, playing in all 17 of the Gusties’ games. Waldspurger’s four game-winners were first on the team and tied for second-best in the conference.
MIAC Regular Season Champions Carleton had a near-perfect sweep of the major awards, notching Offensive Player of the Year honors for Casey MacVeagh, Defensive Player of the Year for Piper Dean, and Coach of the Year for Jessica Mueller. Carleton’s Ashlyn Haigh and St. Olaf’s Cat Duffy-Shaw shared the 2022 Rookie of the Year honor.
