Women’s Tennis Garners Four on All-MIAC Team, Carlson Selected Coach of the Year

The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced its women’s tennis postseason awards on Tuesday and five Gusties were honored.

BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced its women’s tennis postseason awards on Tuesday and five Gusties were honored.

Sydney Douglas (Sr., North Mankato), Yuki Oda (Jr., Kawasaki, Japan), Simona Potockova (Sr., Nova’ Dubnica, Slovakia), and Anna Stutz (Sr., Dellwood) were named to both the All-Conference Singles and Doubles Teams, while Jon Carlson was selected as the MIAC Women’s Tennis Coach of the Year.

Douglas earns her second All-MIAC singles honor and first doubles nod after posting an 18-12 overall singles mark and a perfect 9-0 record in the MIAC, primarily playing No. 4. In doubles play, Douglas was 13-11 overall and 6-1 in the MIAC, primarily playing at No. 2.

Oda garners her first All-Conference honors in both singles and doubles. Oda went 16-12 overall in singles and 9-0 in the MIAC, playing at No. 3. In doubles, Oda was 18-11 overall and 7-2 in the MIAC, playing at No. 1.

Potockova, now a three-time All-MIAC singles and doubles honoree, was the Gusties’ top player all season long. She posted a singles mark of 19-10 overall and 7-2 in the MIAC, and went 18-11 overall and 7-2 in the MIAC in doubles.

Stutz earns her third All-MIAC singles honor and first doubles nod after being honorable mention in doubles twice. Stutz posted an overall singles mark of 16-10 and went 7-1 in the MIAC playing at the No. 2 spot. In doubles, she went 18-9 overall and 7-1 in the MIAC playing at No. 2.

In his 32nd season as the head coach, Carlson led the Gusties to an undefeated regular season and the 30th regular season MIAC title in program history in 2022. Carlson is now a 10-time recipient of the award, having been previously recognized in 1994, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2003, 2004, 2010, 2015, and 2018.

Alli Laux (So., Onalaska, Wis.) and Rachel Lindrud (Sr., North Oaks) were named All-Conference Honorable Mention Singles. Laux went 18-7 overall and 9-0 in the MIAC playing at No. 5, while Lindrud was also 18-7 overall and 9-0 in the MIAC at No. 6. Megan Karrow (Sr., Woodbury) was selected to the MIAC All-Sportsmanship Team.
