SAINT PETER, Minn. – The Gustavus men’s basketball team suffered a 106-67 loss to No. 7 St. Thomas on Saturday afternoon. The Gusties fall to 8-12 overall and 8-7 in the MIAC, while the Tommies improve to 17-2 overall and 13-1 in the league.
The Tommies had the hot hand by shooting 57.1 percent from the floor, while making 17-of-30 three-pointers. St. Thomas also did well on the boards, out-rebounding the Gusties 27-23. The visitors forced 15 turnovers and gave it up just four times.
In the first five minutes of the game St. Thomas raced out to a 16-2 lead and never looked back. The Tommies led 53-21 at halftime.
Kaleb Feahn (Jr., Waseca) proved to be a bright spot in a dull game for the Gusties, subbing in at the 19:15 mark of the second and going off for 14 points over a four-minute span. Feahn finished with a game-high 25 points on 8-of-9 shooting, including 4-for-4 from three, and 5-of-5 from the free throw line.
Gustavus next travels to Carleton on Wednesday for a 7 p.m. tipoff.
