SAINT PETER, Minn. – The Gustavus men’s soccer team will travel to Collegeville, Minn. on Saturday afternoon to take on Saint John’s in a 3:30 p.m. contest. The Gusties enter the contest 9-2 overall and 3-1 in the MIAC while the Johnnies enter 8-3 overall and 4-1 in the conference.
The Series: Saturday’s contest marks the 67th all-time meeting between the Gusties and Johnnies with Gustavus leading 29-24-13. The Gusties won last seasons matchup in Collegeville 2-1 in 2OT.
Scouting the Gusties: Gustavus comes into the contest most recently defeating St. Olaf Wednesday. Through 11 games this season the Gusties have had 16 players find the back of the net, with Cole Schwartz (So., Jakarta, Indonesia) leading the team, and tied for the conference lead with 12. Raphael Cattelin (Fy., Edina) and Matt Gibbons (Jr., Minneapolis) follow shortly behind Schwartz with 25 and 21 points respectively, marks good for third and fourth in the MIAC.
