SAINT PETER, Minn. – The Gustavus baseball team will host Concordia for a doubleheader at 2:30 p.m. Thursday and travel to Carleton for a 1 p.m. doubleheader on Saturday. Tuesday’s Gustavus vs. St. Thomas game that was suspended after 10 innings due to darkness will resume at 2:30 p.m. Monday at the Gustie Baseball Field.

SCOUTING THE GUSTIES
Gustavus is coming off a 6-0 loss to St. Thomas on Tuesday and game two was suspended after 10 innings due to darkness. The Gusties are hitting .264 as a team, led by shortstop Cole Pengilly with a .388 average (26-67), four doubles, and 16 runs. Matt Berkner is next with a .329 average (23-70) and 13 RBI. Brice Panning will get his first start on the mound this season for game one against Concordia. Panning has tossed just one inning this year with no runs, two hits, two walks, and a strikeout. Charlie Hutchinson is the game two starter. He owns a 4.70 ERA and 0-3 record after 15.1 innings.

Concordia most recently split at St. Olaf on Tuesday, winning game one 9-1 and losing the second 12-0. The Cobbers are 4-5 in the month of April with all games against MIAC opponents. The offense is hitting a collective .284, led by Mason Penske with a .388 average (19-49). Andy Gravdahl has a team-high 23 hits and 16 runs. Austin Ver Steeg is the ace of the pitching staff with a 1.71 ERA and 2-3 record after 31.2 innings. Cole Christensen has tossed a team-high 35.2 innings with a 3.03 ERA and a 3-3 record. Tanner McBain has made the most relief appearances with eight and owns a 2.35 ERA and 11 strikeouts in 7.2 innings.
