SAINT PETER, Minn. – The No. 17 Gustavus men’s tennis team late Friday night shut out Luther 9-0 at the Swanson Tennis Center. The Gusties cruised in doubles and then won each singles matchup in straight sets to improve to 13-7 overall.

”The guys played a solid match tonight,” Head Coach Tommy Valentini said. “Luther is a strong team. They’re well coached and play very good doubles. We had the right energy out of the gates. Michael and Xavier were outstanding and set a great tone. Joel Hug stepped in with poise in both singles and doubles and everyone had a good mindset in the singles. It was a great team effort. I think the guys were excited to be home for a Friday night match. The atmosphere was great and we’ll look to build on the performance as we face another tough challenge on Sunday.”
