FRIDAY RESULTS

NORTHFIELD, Minn. – The Gustavus women’s track & field team sits in fifth place after day one of the MIAC Indoor Championships with 41.5 points. St. Thomas leads the field with 97 points.

“We got a few points from some ladies that maybe weren’t expected to get them for us,” Head Coach Dale Bahr said. “It increases the moral of the team and hopefully that continues into the final day tomorrow.”

Tierney Winter along with her relay partners Josie Blake, Sara Moen, and Abigail Schnabel highlighted Friday’s action for the Gusties by claiming conference titles. Winter won the mile and the quartet won the distance medley relay. Katie Keelin also earned All-Conference honors with a second place finish in the weight throw.

“Tierney showed a lot of guts today,” Bahr said. “It’s not easy to double back with her individual event and then anchoring the relay. She was able to throttle down at the end of the race and that’s exciting for them to win with such a gap.”
