REGIONAL WEBPAGE

SAINT PETER, Minn. – The Gustavus women’s tennis team is playing host to the ITA Midwest Regional Championships this weekend and completed the first day of action on a brisk Friday morning and afternoon. Six Gusties advanced to the round of 32 with wins on Friday, including Lilly Hartman, Ginger Valentine, Anna Stutz, Ally Thorson, Simona Ptotckova, and Bri Hartmann, who is the defending region champion.

The Gustavus doubles tandems of Hartmann/Hartman, Valentine/Sullivan, and Potockova/Stutz each advanced to the round of 16.

Gustavus is also playing host to the Gustie Fall Invite, which featured a number of wins for the Black and Gold.

“It was our best first day we’ve had in a long time,” Head Coach Jon Carlson said. “I’m very proud of hard we battled. Even the matches we lost, we lost to high quality players. We’ve also never been as successful in the fall invitational as we were this year. It’s been over 10 years since we’ve been this successful so I’m looking forward to day two tomorrow.”

The ITA regional continues Saturday through Monday.
