TEMPE, Ariz. – Oracle and the Intercollegiate Tennis Association announced the first Oracle/ITA Collegiate Tennis Division III National Singles and Doubles Rankings of the 2017-18 season recently, with Gustavus men’s tennis player Mohanad Alhouni (Sr., Tripoli, Libya) holding the top singles position.
Alhouni enjoyed an exciting fall campaign, claiming his third consecutive ITA Midwest Regional Singles Title prior to winning the ITA Oracle Cup Singles Championship. He then went on to represent Gustavus at the ITA National Fall Championships, falling against two tough Division I opponents.
In addition, the doubles due of Alhouni and Patrick Whaling (Jr., Manikob Sabot, Va.) rank No. 6 nationally. The pair won the ITA Midwest Regional Doubles title prior to falling in the first round of the ITA Oracle Cup.
Zach Ekstein (Sr., Eagan, Minn.) and Chase Johnson (Jr., Golden Valley, Minn.) also rank within the top-50 nationally and top-10 regionally in the singles rankings.
