ST. PETER, Minn. – The Gustavus volleyball team travels to Stevens Point, Wis., this weekend for another non-conference tournament, participating in the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point Tournament.
The Gusties open the four-match tournament by facing Lakeland College and Millikin University on Friday. Gustavus then closes out the final day, Saturday, with matches against UW-Stevens Point and Edgewood College.
Gusties ranked No. 20 in AVCA poll
Gustavus moved up four spots in the week one AVCA Coaches Top-25 Poll, released on Tuesday after being ranked No. 24 in the preseason poll. The Gusties opened their 2017 campaign last weekend at the Oregon Trail Classic and returned with four wins, sweeping each of their opponents. The 4-0 start to the season is the best since 2008.

Gustavus vs. Lakeland | Friday, 3 p.m.
- Gustavus is 2-1 all-time against the Muskies, with the Gusties winning 3-0 in the latest meeting, last season.
- Early in the season, Lakeland has posted a 2-3 record, most recently falling at UW-Stevens Point on Wednesday.
Gustavus vs. Millikin | Friday, 7 p.m.
- Friday evening’s matchup between Gustavus and the Millikin Big Blue will be the first meeting between the two teams.
- No. 12 ranked Millikin is off to a 4-0 start after competing at the Pacific Coast Classic last weekend, including a win over No. 7 ranked Claremon-Mudd-Scripps.
Gustavus vs. UW-Stevens Point | Saturday, 12 p.m.
- Saturday’s matchup will mark the 10th all-time meeting between the Gusties and the Pointers, with UW-Stevens Point holding a 6-3 series record favor. The two teams last met twice during the 2013 season, in which they split two matches.
- The Pointers, who received votes in the first AVCA Coaches’ Poll, are 4-1 on the season. They most recently defeated Lakeland on Wednesday following a 3-1 opening weekend at the Kathryne Pals Legacy Invitational at Northwestern-St. Paul.
Gustavus vs. Edgewood | Saturday, 2 p.m.
- The Gusties and the Eagles have faced each other just two times previously, in 1997 and 1998, with Gustavus sweeping both matches.
- Edgewood recently picked up its first win of the season over Wheaton College on Wednesday, moving its record to 1-5 overall.
