CHICAGO, Ill. – The No. 38-ranked Gustavus women’s tennis team Friday began play at the NCAA Championships with a 5-0 regional quarterfinal win over St. Norbert. The Gusties swept doubles and followed with wins at Nos. 3 and 4 singles for the clean sweep, moving on to the regional semifinal tomorrow against the winner of Kenyon and Franciscan. Appearing in its 25th NCAA tournament, Gustavus now owns a 37-26 overall record in the national playoff and has reached the regional semifinal for the second year in a row.
“It was a good start and we hope to build on that tomorrow,” Head Coach Jon Carlson said. “We are playing with good intensity and playing some of the best tennis we have all season. The girls are ready to play either Kenyon or Franciscan tomorrow.”
