BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – The No. 23-ranked Gustavus Adolphus College men’s tennis team won a pair of big matches Saturday behind a perfect 4-0 day from Mohanad Alhouni (Jr., Tripoli, Libya). The Gusties are now winners of 11-straight matches, and 11-2 overall and 3-0 in conference play. First, Gustavus took down No. 17-ranked UW-Whitewater 8-1, with Alhouni winning 6-3, 6-4, at No. 1 singles and 8-4 at No. 1 doubles. Then, the team earned a 9-0 MIAC sweep of Macalester, with Alhouni contributing a No. 1 singles win by the score of 8-3, and he avenged a 2016 singles loss against the Scot’s Josh Doyle at No. 1 singles (6-2, retired). Alhouni is now 18-3 in singles play and 13-5 in doubles play in 2016-17, and this marks his second MIAC Athlete-of-the-Week award of 2017 after also winning on Feb. 7.
