ST. PAUL, Minn. – The 2017 Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships continued Friday at the University of St. Thomas with a full slate of events. After the first day of team competition, the Gustavus men sit in eighth place with 25 points, while the women are in 12th with four points. St. Thomas leads both the men and women with 103 and 114 points, respectively.

“We had some really good performances from a couple of our seniors, however, the flu bug is definitely hitting our team on both the men’s and women’s side, but that’s just the nature of the beast sometimes,” Head Coach Dale Bahr said. “We left some points on the table, which is not very typical for us, but we couldn’t capitalize on some of those points today.”

The men’s team was highlighted by a pair of second place finishes. Kyle Fredrickson (Sr., Victoria, Minn.) took silver in the 800-meter with a time of 1:55.29, earning All-Conference. Trevor Maxwell (Sr., Prior Lake, Minn.) also took second in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.59, also earning All-Conference.
