LAS VEGAS, Nev. – The Gustavus men’s basketball team concluded play at the D3hoops.com Classic on Thursday, losing 77-62 to Ramapo College. The loss moves the Gusties to 2-7 overall, while the Roadrunners remain perfect at 11-0.

Riley Sharbono (So., Marshall, Minn.) once again led the Gusties with 16 points on 7-of-14 shooting from the floor. Ben Lies (Sr., Hutchinson, Minn.) added 10 points and four rebounds. The Gusties were held to under 40 percent shooting for the third straight game, while the Roadrunners shot 44 percent from the field. Gustavus turned the ball over a season-high 23 times, compared to 16 by Ramapo.

After a quick 6-2 lead by Ramapo to start the game, the Gusties responded with a 9-2 run to take an 11-8 advantage at the 15:08 mark. Gustavus held an 18-16 lead at the 11:09 mark, but Ramapo scored 10 unanswered points and held the advantage the rest of the game. The Roadrunners led 40-30 at halftime. The Gusties got within nine points of the lead in the second half, but that was the closest they would get en route to a 15-point loss.

Gustavus returns to its home court Monday as it gets back into Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play against defending national champion St. Thomas.
