Ackiss, Becker Named To NSCAA All-North Team

Gustavus women’s soccer team members Maddison Ackiss (Sr., Fairbanks, Alaska) and Ashley Becker (So., Farmington, Minn.) have been named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) All-North Team, released Tuesday.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Gustavus women’s soccer team members Maddison Ackiss (Sr., Fairbanks, Alaska) and Ashley Becker (So., Farmington, Minn.) have been named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) All-North Team, released Tuesday. 

Ackiss and Becker both earned All-North Third Team honors. Ackiss as a forward and Becker as a goalkeeper. Both performers were were also 2015 members of the All-North Team.

Maddison Ackiss earns her second All-North Third Team award, finishing the 2016 season as the Gusties’ leading scorer for the third consecutive season. Ackiss started in all 19 games for the Gusties and registered 22 points with nine goals and four assists. In October, Ackiss helped Gustavus clinch a playoff birth by posting six goals including two game-winners to earn Gustavus Student-Athlete of the Month. In her four years at Gustavus, Ackiss didn’t miss a game and finished her career with 36 goals and 83 points. Ackiss concludes her career in Black and Gold with six multi-goal games and sits seventh on the women’s soccer all-time scoring list and also sixth in all-time goals.

Ashley Becker also earns her second NSCAA recognition as she was an All-North First Team honoree last season. Becker didn’t take a step back during her sophomore campaign as she began the 2016 season three consecutive shutouts, earning MIAC Athlete of the Week laurels. She finished the season with five shutouts and sat among the MIAC league leaders, ranking second with 94 saves and fourth with an .831 save percentage.
