ST. PETER, Minn. – The Gustavus volleyball team hopes to stay in the win column tonight as it travels to Macalester College for a 7 p.m. Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference match. The Gusties enter the game as the No. 2 team in the league with a 5-1 record and are 14-4 overall, while the Scots are 10th in the standings at 1-5 and are 8-11 overall.

The Gusties are coming off a shutout victory over Carleton last Friday at Gus Young Court. The Gusties proved to be consistently efficient on the attack with percentages of .213, .214, and .212 in each set. Lauren Hanson (So., Redwood Falls, Minn.) and Hannah Albers (So., St. Louis, Mo.) paced the offense with 13 and 11 kills, respectively. Albers added 19 digs for her ninth double-double of the season. Nora Holtan (So., Rochester, Minn.) also had a double-double – her fifth – with 37 assists and 10 digs. Brittany Luethmers (So., Prior Lake, Minn.) was the constant presence on the back line with 21 digs.
After 18 matches this season, Hanson leads the Gustie offense with 231 kills (3.45 per set, 3rd/MIAC), including a .247 attack percentage. Holtan leads the league with an average of 9.79 assists per set. She also averages 2.3 digs per set and 1.54 kills per set. Luethmers leads the defense with 324 digs (4.5 per set).
Macalester most recently shut out Crown College on Monday. Brooke Hunter led the offense with 12 kills, Alexis Foret had four aces and 17 digs, and Samantha Bongiorno posted 17 assists. After 19 matches this season, Clara Bauman leads the team with 188 kills (2.76 per set). Hunter has tallied 332 assists and averages 4.88 per set. Hoai-Nam Bui and Bauman lead the back line with 261 and 260 digs, respectively.
