ST. PETER, Minn. – The Gustavus men’s soccer team continues Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play as they travel to Minneapolis, Minn. Saturday night to take on Augsburg College.
The Gusties enter today’s match with a 3-7-1 (2-2-1 MIAC) record, while the Auggies own a 3-7-1 (1-2-1 MIAC) record. The game is scheduled for a 7 p.m. start at Edor Nelson Field.
The Gusties look to stay hot after posting big wins last week. Gustavus earned its first victory in Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play Tuesday in dramatic fashion, defeating Saint Mary’s 1-0 in double overtime. On Saturday during homecoming, Alex Wilson (Jr., Ashland, Wis.) scored his first career goal, the game-winner with under ten minutes remaining in the game to lead the Black and Gold to a 1-0 victory over Carleton College at Gustie Soccer Field.
Today’s match marks the 62nd meeting between Gustavus and Augsburg. The Gusties own a 38-17-6 all-time record over the Auggies. Last season, the teams battled to a 1-1 tie after two overtimes at Gustie Soccer Field.
Augsburg is coming off a three-straight losses, most recently a 0-2 loss at the University of Wisconsin-Superior on Tuesday.
