NORTHFIELD, Minn. – The Gustavus Adolphus College women’s tennis team earned an 8-1 victory over St. Olaf College on Saturday afternoon at the Carlson Outdoor Courts. With the win, the Gusties move to 15-6 overall and 6-0 in the MIAC, and are one of three remaining undefeated conference teams, along with Carleton and St. Thomas.
“This was a great win for the team today,” said Coach Jon Carlson. “St. Olaf is a very steady team that makes you fight for every point at every position. We did an especially good job in doubles of executing our strategies and I’m proud of the way we battled in singles. We put ourselves in a great position heading into another tough match tomorrow.”
The Gusties have a short rest before returning to action tomorrow against St. Thomas at 1 p.m. at the Swanson Tennis Center. Gustavus went 1-1 against the Tommies last season, including a 6-3 win during the regular season and a 5-2 loss in the MIAC Playoff Championship.
