No. 11 Pomona-Pitzer 7, Gustavus 2 

POMONA, Calif. – Taking on its third nationally-ranked opponent in the past five days, the Gustavus Adolphus College men’s tennis team dropped a 7-2 Friday decision to No. 11 Pomona-Pitzer in Pomona, Calif. The defeat drops the No. 19 Gusties to 11-2 overall heading into their final matches of the Stag-Hen Invite on Saturday, which is being played at Claremont-Mudd Scripps.

Against the Sagehens, the No. 3 doubles team of Mitch Elofson (Sr., St. Peter, Minn.) and David Hagberg (Jr., Eden Prairie, Minn.) took home the lone doubles win of the day with an 8-6 win. In singles, sophomore Mohaned Alhouni (Tripoli, Libya) took down 22nd-ranked Jake Yasgoor by a 4-6, 6-4, 7-5 count. Andres Saenz (Sr., Cancun, Mexico) and Zach Ekstein (So., Eagan, Minn.) each took their opponents to three sets, but Saenz eventually fell 6-2, 1-6, 4-6, while Ekstein took a 5-7, 6-1, 6-1 loss to 47th-ranked Jon Kim.

Gustavus was supposed to take on No. 6 Case Western Reserve this afternoon as well, but matches were delayed until tomorrow morning due to rain. The Gusties now will take on the Spartans at 10:30 a.m. CST.
