ST. PETER, Minn. – The Gustavus Adolphus College men’s tennis team earned three victories on Saturday at the Swanson Tennis Center, two of which came in MIAC action. The Gusties took down Bethel, Concordia, and Morningside, all by scores of 9-0 to move to 8-0 overall and 5-0 in the conference.
“We’re very pleased with the effort from the guys today,” said Coach Tommy Valentini. “We’re continuing to make good progress and are grateful we had good results to match the way we competed.”
Gustavus began its day with a sweep of Bethel, as Mohanad Alhouni (So., Tripoli, Libya), Andres Saenz (Sr., Cancun, Mexico), Zach Ekstein (So., Eagan, Minn.), Tommy Entwistle (So., Sioux Falls, S.D.), Mitch Elofson (Sr., St. Peter, Minn.), and David Hagberg (Jr., Eden Prairie, Minn.) combined for the nine total points in singles and doubles.

Against Concordia, the Gusties were similarly successful, but split their lineup to include more players. Alhouni, Saenz, Gabe Steinwand (So., Moorhead, Minn.), and Joakim Ekfeldt (Jr., Stokholm, Sweden) were victorious in both the singles and doubles lineups, and Collin Sandgren (Fy., Forsyth, Ill.) made his singles lineup debut.

The Gusties take on three non-conference opponents next Saturday. One squad will travel to Jackson, Wis. to take on regional foe UW-Whitewater at 2 p.m., while another will stay home to compete against Central College and Martin Luther College at 8:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m., respectively.
