Men’s Swimming & Diving In Third Place After Day One At Grinnell Invite

The Gustavus men’s swimming and diving team sits in third place out of eight teams after day one at the Grinnell Invitational. The Gusties have a team score of 400, while host Grinnell is in first with 613 points and Nebraska Wesleyan is in second with 409 points.

FRIDAY RESULTS

GRINNELL, Iowa – The Gustavus men’s swimming and diving team sits in third place out of eight teams after day one at the Grinnell Invitational. The Gusties have a team score of 400, while host Grinnell is in first with 613 points and Nebraska Wesleyan is in second with 409 points.

Tanner Sonnek (Fy., North Mankato, Minn.) took second place in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:10.51. Sonnek also took fourth in the 200 IM, touching the wall in 2:01.69.

The 800 freestyle relay team of Will Bragg (So., Eagan, Minn.), Andrew Peters (Fy., Montevideo, Minn.), Jeffrey Nelson (Sr., Maple Grove, Minn.) and Seth Berry (So., Bloomington, Minn.) took second with a time of 7:20.82.

Jonathan Bovee (Fy., Farmington, Minn.) and Carson Scholberg (Fy., Apple Valley, Minn.) highlighted the one-meter diving for the Gusties. Bovee placed third with a score of 388.90 and Scholberg took fourth with a score of 370.20.

The 200 freestyle relay team of Berry, Frankie Zobitz (Fy., White Bear Lake, Minn.), Nelson and Peters took fourth place with a time of 1:30.18.

The Gusties return to the pool at 9 a.m. Saturday for prelims, followed by the finals at 5 p.m.
