Lizzy Stanczyk Earns Women’s Tennis’ Elite 22 Award

BLOOMINGTON, MINN. – Gustavus Adolphus women’s tennis player Lizzy Stanczyk (Jr., Plymouth, Wis.) was recently recognized as the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference’s Women’s Tennis Elite 22 Award Winner. The Elite 22 Award is awarded to the the student-athlete with the highest grade point average at the conference championship in their sport.

“Our team is very proud of Lizzy for her achievements on and off the court,” said head coach Jon Carlson. “Lizzy is someone any coach would want to have on their team. She is the model Division III student-athlete in that she is fiercely competitive, but also takes a great deal of pride in her academics.”

Stanczyk, a spanish and education major with a 3.96 GPA, also earned All-Conference honors one week ago for her performance during the 2014-15 season. She went a combined 18-13 in singles play and 20-8 in doubles, while primarily holding down the No. 3 singles and No. 2 doubles positions. The Gusties earned the regular season conference title for the first time since 2011 and came just short of earning the MIAC’s automatic berth to the NCAA Tournament, as it fell 5-2 to the University of St. Thomas in the MIAC Women’s Tennis Playoff Championship.
