St. Peter, Minn. – The Gustavus Adolphus women’s track and field team had a strong showing at the Drake Alternative/Alumni Meet held on Saturday at the Gustavus Track and Field Complex. No team scores were recorded at the meet.
Leading the Gusties with the team’s lone first place finish was Mata Agre (So., Edina, Minn.) who won the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 11:50.06. Marit Henckel (Sr., Viroqua, Wis.) placed third in the steeplechase with a time of 12:33.20.
Megan Eckberg (Fy., Gaylord, Minn.) and Haley Kemper (Sr., Prior Lake, Minn.) also finished inside the top three on the track. Eckerbg placed second in the 110-meter hurdles (16.09) and added a fourth place finish in the long jump (16’ 8.75”), while Kemper came in third in the 400-meter hurdles (1:09.90) and took fourth in the triple jump (34’ 8.5”).
Rounding out Gustavus’s top performers on the track was Kaitlin Bembenek (Jr., Prior Lake, Minn.), Heather Kolthoff (Jr., Waconia, Minn.), and Hana Fischer (Sr., Eden Prairie, Minn.). Bembenenk placed fourth in the 400-meter dash (1:00.57), Kalthoff placed fourth in the 400-meter hurdles (1:14.01), and Fischer placed fifth in the 100-meter dash (13.36) and 200-meter dash (27.36).
In the throws, the Gusties were led by the top five finishes of Elizabeth Weiers (Sr., Le Center, Minn.) and Marisa Morgan (Fy., Rockford, Ill.). Weiers threw the hammer 171-feet 10-inches to place third, and Morgan threw the javelin 101-feet 11-inches to take fifth.
The Gustavus track and field team will be back in action on Wednesday, April 28. The Gusties will travel to Mankato, Minnesota where they will compete in the MSU, Mankato Invitational.
