St. Peter, Minn. – The Gustavus Adolphus men’s basketball team will travel to Collegeville, Minn., on Wednesday, Feb. 26th to take on Saint John’s University in the quarterfinal round of the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Playoffs. The two teams tied for fourth place in the regular season standings, but the Johnnies were awarded the tiebreaker and the fourth seed, while the Gusties are the fifth seed. Wednesday night’s game is set for a 7:30 p.m., opening tip.
Gustavus enters Wednesday’s contest with a record of 16-9 overall and 13-7 in the MIAC following a 73-68 loss to St. Thomas last Wednesday in St. Peter. Trailing by 11 points at halftime, the Gusties came back to cut the lead to two points (70-68) with just 15 seconds remaining, but could not complete the comeback in the loss.
Saint John’s comes in with a record of 15-10 overall and 13-7 in the MIAC after upsetting St. Thomas (76-69) in St. Paul on Saturday. Heading into halftime with a 36-29 deficit, the Johnnies came back to outscore the Tommies 47-33 in the second half in the win.
