St. Peter, Minn. – Former Gustavus Adolphus football player and 2010 graduate Jack Breckner (Wayzata, Minn.) has been signed as an undrafted free agent by Indianapolis Colts of the National Football League as of Wednesday, Feb. 5. Details of Breckner’s contract have not been released.
At 6-9, 320 pounds, the Wayzata, Minn. native hopes to add depth to a Colts offensive line that was plagued by injury during the 2013-14 season. Breckner most recently played with the Iowa Barnstormers (2013) of the Arena Football League. Prior to that, he spent time with the Chicago Slaughter (2012) of the Indoor Football League and Eastern Kentucky Drillers (2011) of the Ultimate Indoor Football League.
A three-year letterwinner, Breckner worked his way into a starting role at left tackle his senior season (2009). He started in all ten games and was named a second team all-conference performer after helping the Gusties average 301.5 yards of total offense per game including 122.3 rushing and 179.2 passing. During his senior year, Gustavus rushed for over 100 yards in the team’s final six games and also ran for a season-high 235 yards against Augsburg on Oct. 24.
