“The highlight of the day was Marian finishing in eighth. Her race was a career best in classic by a long shot,” acknowledged Head Coach Jed Friedrich. “Marit skied another strong race, and Mata was much better than yesterday. Overall, I was very pleased with our women today.”
On the men’s side, Williams finished 53rd overall and 37th in the college division with a time of 31:14.2. Tyler Gustafson (Jr., Grand Rapids, Minn.) followed closely in 55th overall and 38th in the college division in 31:19.0.
“Scott led our men today. He really improved and had a solid weekend,” continued Friedrich. “The other guys are working hard on building their race form, which is to be expected at this point. We are just working to get better each day so we can race our best in February.”
Both the men’s and women’s nordic skiing teams will be back in action next weekend when they compete in their second NCAA Qualifier in Coleraine, Minn., on Friday, Jan. 24th and Saturday, Jan. 25th.
