Nordic Skiing Teams Compete In Opening Day Of NCAA Qualifier

Cable, Wis. – The Gustavus men’s and women’s nordic skiing teams competed in the opening day of their first of two NCAA Qualifiers on Saturday afternoon at Telemark Lodge in Cable, Wis.  No team scores were available, as the competition will conclude tomorrow afternoon.

On the women’s side, Marian Lund (Sr., Duluth, Minn.) and Marit Sonnesyn (So., Plymouth, Minn.) led the way for the Gusties, finishing 28th and 29th.  Lund finished in 32:58.8, while Sonnesyn crossed the line in 33:00.4.

For the men, Scott Williams (Jr., Maple Grove, Minn.) was the top Gustie finisher in 43rd with a time of 43:42.5.  Josh Blankenship (Jr., Maple Grove, Minn.) followed closely in 44th with a time of 43:43.4.

Both teams will participate in the second day of this weekend’s NCAA Qualifier tomorrow afternoon at Telemark Lodge.
