Women’s Golf To Take Part In Small College Classic This Weekend

St. Peter, Minn. – The Gustavus women’s golf team will travel to Northfield, Minn. on Saturday to compete in the Small College Classic.  The two-day tournament begins Saturday morning and will conclude on Sunday afternoon.  Both rounds will be played at the Northfield Golf Club.

The Gusties will look to improve on a third place finish in last weekend’s Division 3 Classic in Lake City, Minn.  After an opening round 326 (+38), Gustavus turned in a final round score of 328 (+40) for a total of 654 (+78) on the weekend.  The Gusties were led by Chloe Altmann (So., Olivia, Minn.) and Lauren Johnson (Jr., Plymouth, Minn.), who tied for eighth with weekend totals of 163 (+19).  Jordan Drenttel (Jr., Inver Grove Heights, Minn.) was the only other Gustie to finish in the top 20.  Drenttel shot a 164 (+20) on the weekend to tie for 13th.

So far this season, Gustavus is averaging 325.3 strokes per 18 holes and has finished in the top five in every tournament.  Sam Falk (Jr., Glenwood, Minn.) leads the way with a stroke average of 81.0 after six rounds of play, while Liz Strom (Jr., Fargo, N.D.) follows with a stroke average of 81.8 in four rounds of competition.
