Kelly Chaudoin Turns In Two Strong Performances To Lead the Nordic Ski Team at Mount Itasca Super Tour Races

Senior Kelly Chaudoin finished seventh overall and first in the collegiate division in the women’s 10 kilometer freestyle race held at Mount Itasca in Coleraine, Minn. on Sunday afternoon. Chaudoin turned in one of the strongest performances of her career as she finished :53 seconds ahead of her closest collegiate competitor with a time of 31:09.7. First year Erin Eppler also had a big day as she finished eighth among CCSA skiers with a time of 33:33.5. Other finishers for Gustavus included Kathryn Ladig in 19th place (35:52.6), Danielle Burgmeier in 24th place (37:05.6), and Cassandra Brady in 27th place (37:28.4). The Gusties finished second as a team with 63 points. Northern Michigan was first with 75 points.

Sunday’s Complete Freestyle Results

On Saturday in the classic race, Gustavus finished third as a team with 55 points. Northern Michigan finished first (78) and Michigan Tech was second (65). The Gusties were led by Kelly Chaudoin, who finished 12th among CCSA skiers with a time of 33:01.7. Erin Eppler finished :93 seconds behind Chaudoin in 25th place in a time of 34:34.0. The rest of the Gustavus team finishes included Kathryn Ladig in 33rd place (35:36.2), Danielle Burgmeier in 48th place (36:46.6), and Cassandra Brady in 66th place (39:36.1).
