The Gustavus men’s soccer team registered only one shot on goal against Augsburg on Wednesday night, but the Gusties made that one count as Ben Ikeda’s goal from 35 yards out in the 77th minute proved to be the difference. Gustavus goalkeeper Luke Strom made three saves and recorded his sixth shutout of the season. The Gusties are now 9-2-1 overall and 5-1-0 in the MIAC.
Augsburg outshot the Gusties 10-4 in the first half and 11-4 in the second half for a 21-8 advantage in the contest. Luke Strom picked up the win the nets for Gustavus, while Pascaul Venter suffered the loss for the Auggies.
The win for Gustavus was the 11th consecutive victory over Augsburg dating back to the 1997 season.
The Gusties will host Bethel University on Saturday at 1:00 pm.
