The Gustavus women’s tennis team kicked off its fall season at the Gopher Invitational hosted by the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis on Friday. The Gusties are the only non-Division I program in the 10-team field. Sophomore Marianne Barau and first year Mary Roop both went 2-0 in singles play on the first day. The tournament will continue all day Saturday and wrap up with finals on Sunday.
The very challenging tournament fields includes teams from host Minnesota, University of Nebraska, Louisiana State University, University of Iowa, Iowa State University, Air Force Academy, Eastern Michigan University, University of Northern Iowa, and South Dakota State University.
