Women’s Hockey Defeats St. Ben’s 5-0

The Gustavus Adolphus women’s hockey team defeated the College of St. Benedict 5-0 on Friday night in St. Cloud, Minn. First-year players Andrea Peterson and Ingrid Neve each contributed two goals for the Gusties.

The Gustavus Adolphus women’s hockey team defeated the College of St. Benedict 5-0 on Friday night in St. Cloud, Minn. The Gusties improve to 15-2-0 in the MIAC and 19-5-0 overall, while the Blazers fall to 4-11-2 in the MIAC and 6-13-2 overall.

Jess Brandanger and Laura Stypulkowski assisted on the opening goal by Andrea Peterson. Peterson recored her second goal of the night off of an assist from Ingrid Neve. Neve scored her first goal of the night in the first period to make it 3-0 after twenty minutes of play.

The Blazers were able slow down the Gusties and hold them scoreless in the second period. Neve tallied her second goal of the night and made it 4-0 with 3:25 remaining in the contest. The Neve’s second goal of the night was assisted by Abby Randall and Ann Katz. Ellen Doyle made it 5-0 in the last minute, taking advantage of an open goal.

The Gusties have won 13 consecutve MIAC games and will host the Blazers Saturday night in St. Peter, Minn. The game is scheduled to start at 7pm.
