Gustavus Hosts Minnesota High School All-Star Football Camp

Gustavus Adolphus College is serving as the site for the 2008 Minnesota High School All-Star Football Camp, which began on Sunday, June 22nd and will conclude on Saturday, June 28th. The All-Star Football Game will be held at 7:00 pm on Saturday, June 28 at Husky Stadium on the campus of St. Cloud State University. Gustavus is serving as the host campus for the All-Star Football Camp for the tenth consecutive year and for the first time at the new Hollingsworth Field, which was constructed in 2007.

The All-Star Football Game showcases outstanding senior players from the 2007 high school football season. The 89 players and 12 coaches who will participate in this year’s game represent 75 schools and 33 conferences. They were selected by members of the Minnesota High School Football Coaches Association.

The head coaches for the 2008 All-Star Football Game are Dave Ziebarth of St. Thomas Academy for the Metro team and Flint Motschenbacher of Detroit Lakes for the Outstate team. Both coaches have 57 years of combined coaching experience. Ziebarth, a native of Le Sueur, Minn. and a Gustavus graduate, has compiled a record of 41-17 during his five seasons as head coach. Motschenbacher is a native of Audubon, Minn. and a graduate of Moorhead State University, and has compiled an overall record of 81-27.

Six of the 89 players participating in the All-Star Game will be attending Gustavus this fall, including Logan Becker (Blue Earth Area), Matt Dvorak (St. Croix Lutheran), Jason Hankins (Cleveland), Matt Herr (Owatonna), Elliott Herdina (Blooming Prairie), and Blake Kerkhoff (New Richland-Hartland-Ellendale-Geneva).
