Women’s Basketball Defeats St. Ben’s 72-60

The Gustavus Adolphus women’s basketball team stay undefeated at home with a 72-60 victory over St. Ben’s Saturday afternoon in St. Peter, Minn. Jennifer Klohs led the Gusties with 22 points.

The Gustavus Adolphus women’s basketball team defeated St. Ben’s 72-60 on Saturday afternoon in St. Peter, Minn. The Gusties remain undefeated at home and improve to 16-4 in the MIAC and 18-5 overall. The Blazers fall to 18-2 in the MIAC and 20-3 overall.

The last eight minutes of the first half were the most important for the Gusties on Saturday. The Gusties turned up the heat and outscored the Blazers 20-4 in the final eight minutes of the half to build an 18 point lead going into the lockerroom.

The Gusties led by as many as 27 points in the second half. The Gustie defense forced the Blazers to turn the ball over 25 times and shoot only 26.7 percent from the three-point line. The Gusties were 27-61 from the field shooting 44.3 percent, and 15-20 from the free-throw line shooting 75 percent.

Jennifer Klohs led the Gusties in scoring with 22 points. Bri Monohan contributed 12 points and Kristin Kachelmyer and Kelly Van Norman each netted 10 points for the Gusties. Kim Johnson led the Blazers in scoring with 21 points. Anna Heikenen contributed 19 points for the Blazers.
