The Gustavus baseball team picked up its third-straight split against Thomas College on Thursday afternoon in Phoenix, Ariz. The Gusties fell 5-1 in game one then later bounced back with a big 10-1 victory in game two.
Freshman Logan Peymann threw six strong innings in game one, yet the Gusties couldn’t keep Thomas at bay in the seventh inning, as the Terriers scored three runs to come away with a four-run win.
The Gusties were on the scoreboard often in game two. Senior Eric Sveen, sophomore Kellan Euerle, and freshman Chris Kelly led the way at the plate. Sveen went 3-for-5, Euerle went 2-for-5 with four RBI, and Kelly finished 2-for-4. Sophomore Dan Venn went five innings to pick up the win on the hill.
The Gustavus baseball team will take on Williams College in its next doubleheader on Friday, March 23. Game one will begin at 9:30 a.m.
