Eva Miller Claims Pool Record as Women’s Swimming Tops St. Ben’s

Eva Miller won both the 100 and 200 yard breastroke to help the Gustavus women’s swimming and diving team defeat the College of Saint Benedict 173-113 at the Lund Natatorium in Saint Peter.

Eva Miller won both the 100 and 200 yard breastroke to help the Gustavus women’s swimming and diving team defeat the College of Saint Benedict 173-113 at the Lund Natatorium in Saint Peter. Both teams will now take next weekend off in preparation for the MIAC Championships which will take place at the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center in Minneapolis, February 12-14.

Miller was one of several swimmers to have big days for the Gusties as she won both the 100 and 200 yard breaststroke. Her time of 1:08.71 in the 100 breaststroke set a new pool record. Miller was also a part of the winning 200 medley relay team.

Other double winners for Gustavus included Beth DeLaRosby in the 50 and 100 yard freestyle and Jess Weggemann in the 500 and 1000 freestyle. Single event winners for the Gusties included the 200 medley relay team of Ann Marie Miller, Eva Miller, Katie Garvey, and Beth DeLaRosby, Meg Chida in the 200 yard butterfly, Kara Yetter in three-meter diving, Katherine Haynes in the 200 yard backstroke and Katie Garvey in the 100 yard butterfly. Gustavus swimmers claimed first place honors in 11 of the 16 events in the meet.
