The Gustavus Adolphus women’s basketball team suffered its first conference loss on Wednesday night to St. Ben’s 67-72. The Gusties are now 10-2 overall and 8-1 in the MIAC, while St. Ben’s improves to 11-1 overall and 9-0 in the MIAC.
Angie Peterson led the Gusties with 17 points, four assists and two steals. Sara Boldt followed with 10 points, two assists and three steals. The Gusties trailed at halftime by nine points (26-35). Gustavus, which was down by 15 points with 2:28 remaining, used a 7-0 run to cut the lead to 70-62 with 1:05 left. A three-pointer by Lacy Skoog with :23 seconds left cut the lead to four (71-67), but the Gusties could get no closer and the Blazers held on for the 72-67 win.
