Gustavus Adolphus junior Tom Huepenbecker (Middleton, Wis.) has been honored by the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference as Special Teams Player of the Week for his performance in Gustavus’ 41-27 loss to Bethel on Saturday, Oct. 15 in St. Peter, Minn.
Hupenbecker accounted for nine of Gustavus’ 27 points on Saturday, going 2-for-2 on field goal attempts and 3-for-3 on extra point tries. His first field goal came from 29 yards out, while the second he grooved from 34 yards. Most importantly, Huepenbecker’s two field goals came off turnovers, putting Gustavus on the board trailing 20-3 in the second quarter and tying the game at 20-20 in the opening minutes of the third.
