Amrik Donkena Places Seventh At USTA/ITA Small College Championships

Gustavus Adolphus tennis player Amrik Donkena won his final match of the USTA/ITA Small College Championships on Saturday to take seventh place in the singles draw.  Donkena outlasted Yevgeny Perepelov of Hunter College in three sets, falling 0-6 in the first, yet bouncing back with a 6-3 win in the second and a 7-6 (5) victory in the third.  The 2011 USTA/ITA Small College Championships were held at the Copeland-Cox Tennis Center in Mobile, Alabama from Oct. 13-16.

Dillon Pottish of Emory University defeated Washington University’s Adam Putterman 6-0, 6-1 to win the singles crown.  In the doubles final, it was Chow and Meyer of Williams College defeating Ballou and Worley of California Lutheran 6-7 (2), 6-4, 6-3 to take the championship.
