Women’s Swimming Claims Impressive Dual Meet Win Over Carleton 156.5 to 141.5

The Gustavus women’s swimming team turned in a strong all-around team performance in defeating Carleton (rated #18 in the Collegeswimming.com national poll) by the score of 156.5 to 141.5 in St. Peter on Saturday afternoon. First year Carrie Gundersen led the Gusties as she posted wins in both the 500 freestyle and the 1000 freestyle.

The Gustavus women’s swimming team turned in a strong all-around team performance in defeating Carleton (rated #18 in the Collegeswimming.com national poll) by the score of 156.5 to 141.5 in St. Peter on Saturday afternoon. First year Carrie Gundersen led the Gusties as she posted wins in both the 500 freestyle and the 1000 freestyle. Gustavus claimed seven individual event titles in the meet.

Joining Gundersen in posting first place finishes were Britta Nelson in the 200 fly, Brittani Matzke in one meter diving, Christi O’Connor in the 200 backstroke, Yoshi Ludwig in the 100 fly, and Lauren Wallerius in three meter diving.

Other top finishes included Sarah Pfau placing second in the 100 and 200 backstroke and the 200 individual medley, Larkin Davis finishing second in the 1000 free, Jonna Berry placing second in the 200 free, Sarah Koepp finishing second in both the 100 and 200 breaststroke, and Emma Espel finishing second in the 100 yard butterfly.

The Gusties will wrap up their regular season schedule with a dual meet at home against UW-Stevens Point next Saturday, February 3 at 3:00 pm.
