Carrie Gundersen Named MIAC Swimmer of the Week

Gustavus women’s swimmer Carrie Gundersen has been named MIAC Swimmer of the Week for her efforts in dual meets against St. Olaf and St. Thomas last weekend. Gundersen broke the school record in the 1,000-yard freestyle by over 20 seconds on Friday against St. Olaf.

Gustavus Adolphus College first-year Carrie Gundersen (Hopkins, Minn.) turned in outstanding performances in dual meets against St. Olaf and St. Thomas this past weekend. Gundersen won the 1,000 free against St. Olaf on Friday night with a winning time of 10:43.90 which broke Gustavus’ school record by more than 20 seconds. She also posted times of 55.04 in the 100-free and 5:18.78 in the 500-free, and posted a freestyle relay split of 54.19. On Saturday, Gundersen was victorious in the 100-free against St. Thomas, posting a time of 55.53. She also anchored the winning 200-free relay team in a time of 25.82.
