The Gustavus men’s soccer team kept their conference title hopes alive with a thrilling 1-0 win over Augsburg in Minneapolis on Wednesday night. Flynn Stewart-Franzen scored the game-winning goal with an assist from Neil Nelson just two minutes into the first overtime. The Gusties are now 8-1-0 in league play and tied for first place with Saint John’s.

The two teams played to a scoreless tie in regulation play. In the overtime, Gustavus got a chance at an early corner kick. The kick was sent into the box where there was a mad scramble for possession. The ball ended up on the foot of Neil Nelson who passed to Flynn Stewart-Franzen. Stewart-Franzen re-directed the pass into the Augsburg net for the winning goal in the 92nd minute.
