Women’s Tennis Tops Luther 7-2 In First Round Of Midwest Invite

The Gustavus women’s tennis team defeated Luther College 7-2 in the opening round of the Midwest Invitational being held in Madison, Wis.

The Gustavus women’s tennis team defeated Luther College 7-2 in the opening round of the Midwest Invitational being held at both the Cherokee Country Club and Nielson Tennis Stadium in Madison, Wis. April 8-9.  The Gusties improve to 10-7 overall with the victory, while Luther drops to 20-7.

Gustavus, who entered the tournament as the #3 ranked team in the Central Region according to the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA), got wins at #1 and #2 doubles before winning five-of-six matches in the singles competition.

The Gusties move on to face Denison University in the semifinals tomorrow at 8:00 a.m. in the Nielson Tennis Stadium.  The University of Chicago will take on Washington (Mo.) in the other semifinal match at 8:00 a.m. is Nielson as well.
