Women’s Hockey Suffers 1-0 Setback To St. Thomas

The Gustavus women’s hockey team suffered its first loss of the 2010-11 season falling to St. Thomas 1-0 in Mendota Heights. Danielle Justice made 23 saves in goal for the Gusties.

The Gustavus women’s hockey team suffered its first loss of the season by the score of 1-0 to St. Thomas on Friday night in Mendota Heights.  The Tommies’ Jamie Tiede scored the lone goal of the game on a power play at the 12:59 mark of the third period.  The loss drops the Gusties to 6-1-0 overall and 4-1-0 in the MIAC.  The two teams will play again on Saturday afternoon at 2 pm at Don Roberts Ice Rink on the Gustavus campus.

The shutout loss for the Gusties was the first in 88 regular season games dating back to a 1-0 loss to St. Thomas on Feb. 3, 2007.

The Gusties out-shot the Tommies 26-24 in the contest.  Gustavus goaltender Danielle Justice registered 23 saves and suffered her first loss in the nets this season.
